Pittsburgh area artist Wanda M. Spangler-Warren is a featured artist for the upcoming grand opening of ART WORKS in Johnstown. The exhibit, titled "The Illumination of ART WORKS" opens August 26, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. at 413 Third Avenue, Johnstown, PA 15906, phone 814-535-2020. The exhibit will house 23 of her luminescent sculptures and works of ten other regional and nationally known artists, and it runs until September 30, 2010.  Admission is free.

For the opening, "The Illumination of Art Works" will be the first exhibit,
beginning Thursday and continuing through Sept. 30.

All the exhibited art will have a light-based focus, from artwork that
manipulates the use of light to works that have to be viewed under a black light
or in darkness.

"Art Works thinks the community is going to be impressed with the caliber of
artists," Rohall said.

"This will definitely not be your typical show."

The exhibiting artists include Wanda Spangler-Warren of southwestern
Pennsylvania, originally from eastern Tennessee.

A self-taught artist, she works with luminescent sculptures, which incorporate
translucency and light.

Her pieces mix the comfort of curving lines and the regularity of patterns with
contours.
